TASUED SU President Begins Social Media Protest

Date:

The President of Tai Solarin University of Education Students’ Union, Com. Soneye Abdul-Azeez Lekan (LAS) has issued out a press release titled “A Call For Media Protest”
“It is disheartening to state at this period in human development that we still lose so many lives to tragic accidents that are preventable but for the poor roads in the country.

For those who travel along, Ijebu-Ode expressway linking Abeokuta/Ibadan, they should be familiar with the three bridges in Odoogbolu local government area. The three bridges, despite being over small running water, consumes lives of many infrequent times than normal. Several incidents of accidents are recorded on that road, leading to the death of many.

In the last four to five months, tens of lives have been lost over those bridges. Just today, Tuesday, 28th of January, 2020, fifteen(15) lives were lost and thirty-eighty(38) injured according to the reports in the media.

Before this river starts claiming the lives of Nigerians students, it becomes necessary to act fast and call the attention of the federal government to their responsibility and find a lasting solution to the dilapidated state of these bridges which is causing the accidents.

We enjoined TASUEDites, Nigerian Students and the mass of people at large to join us with the online protest with hashtag #BridgeOmiRiverToLifeNotDeath on all social media platform”.
